Osaamistavoitteet

After successful completion of the course, the doctoral candidate will: • Perceive the basics and concepts of multidisciplinary environmental studies• Recognize the cultural practices in the perception and use of the eco-social environment• Familiar with the cross-disciplinary research within the topic• Able to identify the core questions of sustainable natural resource policy

Sisältö

The main focus of the course is on multidisciplinary discussion on naturecultures, which has during the past few years unsettled the established fields of politics of nature and natural resources, political ecology, and environmental ethics by providing alternative, supplementary, reciprocal and ethically sustainable forms of knowing. The naturecultural theorizing offers new conceptualizations for thinking about being-in-the-world and for re-establishing the relationship with the land by drawing open-mindedly from the traditions of natural sciences, social sciences, philosophy, and arts

The course is organised for doctoral candidates at the University of Lapland, in the doctoral programme Northern cultures and natural resource politics.

Toteutustavat

The course consist of attendance in the YHYS Colloquium arranged at the University of Lapland during November 22-23, presentation of own research idea at the Hyde Park session on 21 November, and reflective essay based on keynote lectures (min. 2) and literature related to the keynote lecture.

Attending to the colloquium, presentation in Hyde Park session and reflective essay.
